 MARIJUANA EXCISE TAX FUNDS (MET)
SERVICE AGENCY GRANT APPLICATION GUIDE

PURPOSE: MET funds may be used and expended to provide services to meet the needs of the citizens of Mecosta County. Projects pertaining to provision of food, shelter, medical care, public infrastructure improvements and other public improvements will be prioritized. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 PM June 14, 2024 at BOC@mecostacounty.org or the Mecosta County Board of Commissioners, 400 Elm St., Big Rapids, MI 49307

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Mecosta County based non-profit organizations with proof of non-profit status.
  • Governmental Agencies within the County
  • Agencies who are meeting a proven and accepted need in the field of health, welfare, or other community service.

APPLICATION: Requests are to be submitted in writing and shall include:

  • A completed one page annual budget summary sheet for the agency, including the amount being requested from the MET Appropriations.
  • A listing of the Board of Directors, including addresses and telephone numbers.
  • Certification of Tax Exempt status.
  • A narrative report, not to exceed 3 pages including:
  1. A general statement of agency purpose.
  2. The problem or situation to be addressed by the agency program with the documentation of need.
  3. An indication of whether this is a new, existing, and/or expanded service.
  4. The specific services to be provided by the agency.
  5. The number of individuals to be served through the specific request.
  6. Total population being served by the program.
  7. Other anticipated sources of revenue.
  8. How the agency proposes to provide service statistics back to Mecosta County.

Please note: Agency representatives may be requested to appear before the Mecosta County Board of Commissioners to clarify any questions that may arise, and to otherwise support their fund request.
